Dr. Yuichiro K. Kato received his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2005. After conducting his postdoctoral research at Stanford University, he was appointed as an Associate Professor in the Institute of Engineering Innovation at the University of Tokyo. He joined RIKEN in 2016 where he is now Chief Scientist and Director of the Nanoscale Quantum Photonics Laboratory. He is a recipient of the AAAS Newcomb-Cleveland Prize (2006), MEXT Young Scientists' Prize (2009), and the 19th JSPS Prize (2023).
