Yujiro Shimogori is interested in improving intercultural relationships. His research interest is in bicultural identity development, human development and psychology, cross-cultural psychology, cultural adaptation, dual language education, and second language acquisition. His dissertation research examined the relationship between biculturalism and self-efficacy and cognitive-flexibility of Japanese adults.

Shimogori founded SevenSees educational center in April 2017 in Fuchu, Japan. The goal of SevenSees is to educate and promote global citizens that are risk-takers and peacemongers who are willing to create new ways of living in the global world. SevenSees is a comprehensive, multifaceted, and multipurpose organization that promotes cross-cultural understanding and interpersonal relationship through education, cross-cultural exchange, development of programs, and research. SevenSees advocates the development of a long lasting, mutually beneficial relationship with people in the local and global communities.

Shimogori has studied, lived, and worked in Japan and the US, respectively, for over 30 years and 25 years. He currently teaches as a lecturer in the Global Linkage Intitiative Program at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies.
