Ⅰ. CV
I am a researcher in Civil law (Japan) and Comparative Contract law (Civil law, Common law, and Mixed Legal Systems). My current affiliation is a Lecturer in Civil Law, Contract law (in Common law), and Consumer law at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Yamagata University (National University), Japan since Oct. 2023. I have also been Invited Lecturer at the Centre for ELSI (Ethical, Legal and Social Issues) at Osaka University since July 2024. As my biography, From Apr. 2020 to Mar. 2023, I was granted JSPS Research Fellowship (DC1) and Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research (No. 20J21047). From Apr. 2021 to Mar. 2023, I worked as a Project Researcher at the Principles of Informatics Research Division, National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan. During the same period, I also researched at the Faculty of Law, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom as a Faculty Academic Visitor (Visiting Scholar) from 1 Jun. 2022 to 31 Oct. 2022 (*due to COVID-19, it was shortened to half a year). I obtained LL.M. (Hitotsubashi University, Japan) in Mar. 2020, and Ph.D in Law (Hitotsubashi University, Japan) in Mar. 2023. I've been a Fellow at the Faculty of Law, Kokugakuin University from Apr. 2023 to Sep. 2023.

Ⅱ. My Research

My main interests are in transplantation, conflict, and harmonisation of legal systems. My main research fields are in Japan (a Civil Law jurisdiction with a transplanted law), and sometimes in the United Kingdom (a Commonwealth-Common law jurisdiction; for a comparison with the Civil law System). Now, I'm committed to research into the Internationalisation of Contract law from a comparative law perspective, with a focus on Mixed Legal Systems. In detail, I discuss harmonisation of law, not only from the perspective of UNIDROIT, but also from a perspective of common law in the Commonwealth (e.g. Cross-jurisdictional references to the case law as a persuasive authority from other Commonwealth common law jurisdictions). I then attempt to apply such principles of UNIDROIT to Japanese Law as transplanted law, using the Mixed Legal System as a buffer. In addition to this, I'm also reconsidering the doctrines and works of Prof. Sakae Wagatsuma who was born in Yamagata (there's Wagatsuma Collection at Yonezawa, Yamagata) from such perspectives. As my other research interests, I am also interested in 'Law and Economics' and Juris-Informatics (which includes 'Crypto Assets and Private Law').
