Quarter-Wave Line Inserted Series- and Shunt-Diodes Rectifier Tolerant of DC Load Resistance Deviation

This paper presents a brand-new topology of diode rectifier intended for wireless power transfer applications. The key point of our topology is a quarter-wave transmission line that is inserted between two diodes: one in series and the other in shunt. Thanks to the quarter-wave line, the two diodes work in two different modes in accordance with the load resistance’s change. This topology remarkably improves the rectifier’s tolerance to load resistance deviation. The prototype successfully proves our concept showing that it works for wider than one decade of the load resistance range, which could not be done by conventional rectifiers.
