(Brief record)
April 1973;I had started to work in National Research Center for Disaster Prevention after got bachelor's degree of Nagoya Institute of Technology
April 1973 to present; I had been working for the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, which is former National Research Center for Disaster Prevention.
More detail record;
April 1978 to March 1981; I had been transferred temporarily to the Tenryugawa-jyoryu Construction Office in Cyubu Regional Construction Bureaus, Ministry of Construction. In the office, I had conducted the flood forecast, the flood warning issue and the hydrological observation for water level, river discharge and rainfall.
July 1986 to June 1988; I had been transferred temporarily to the National Institute of Resources in Science and Technology Agency. In the institute, I had conducted to survey the new research field for earth science.
Feb. 1992to July 1992; I had studied at the Center for Satellite Applications and Research (STAR) of National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS). In the center, I had researched on the estimation of the surface temperature over the Asian region using NOAA satellite data for estimating the evapotranspiration in large area.
April 1993 to March 1995; Head of the laboratory for research of atmospheric and hydrosphere change in the department of the earth science and technology research in an atmosphere and a hydrosphere.
April 1995 to March 2002; Head of the laboratory for research of atmospheric and hydrosphere change in the department of the earth science and technology research in an atmosphere and a hydrosphere.
April 2002 to March 2004; Director of Interdisciplinary Disaster Prevention Research Department
April 2004 to March 2010; Prencipal Researcher, Department of the Storm, Flood and Landslide Research.
April 2010 to present; Senior Expert Researcher, Disaster Risk Research Unit in the Department of Integrated Research on Disaster Prevention.
(Major research field)
Surface run-off experiment using large rainfall simulator.
Hydrological observation at two small rivers in Tsukuba Science City and the Khuwaenoi river basin in Thailand for the development of the hydrological model.
Development of the large scale hydrological model using the distributed Tank Model.
Development of the searing information system for the storm and flood disasters.
Investigation storm and flood disasters ex. Kochi disaster in Aug. 1975, Ryugasaki flood disaster caused by the Kokaigawa Breach in Aug. 1981, Nagasaki disaster in July 1982, Shimane and Hiroshima disaster in July 1988, Kagoshima disaster in Aug. 1993, Niigata flood disaster in Aug. 1998, North Kanto region and South Tohoku region disaster in Aug. 1998, Tokai flood disaster in Sep. 2000, Niigata and Fukui disaster caused by Typhoon N0.4 in July 2004, Hidaka and Tokachi disaster in Hokkaido caused by Typhoon No.10 in Aug. 2003 etc.
(Recent research activity)
Development of the real time flood risk mapping using MP radar rainfall information at the Fujisawa City in Kanagawa prefecture, Japan and carried out the field experiment of the real time flood risk mapping for the operational use.
Development of conventional system for measuring the flood level on roads automatically and shearing the information to the public.
