Recent research and development on high strain rate superplasticity have led to a new concept of "accommodation helper mechanism" and a new opportunity of "superplastic forging". In the present article, recent works about processing for ultra fine-grained materials, and deformation mechanisms and applications of high strain rate superplasticity are reviewed.
