Numerical evaluation of the relative value of dielectric anisotropy and order parameter in fluorinated nematic liquid crystals

A numerical evaluation of physical constants in the fluorinated liquid crystals has been investigated. The molecular parameters, such as dipole moment and polarizability, were calculated using a semiempirical molecular orbital method. In order to evaluate the temperature dependence of the value "dielectric anisotropy divided by order parameter (Delta epsilon /S)", the Maier-Meier theory was used. The temperature dependence of Delta epsilon /S in these phenylbicyclohexane compounds has been explained.
