Moonlighting proteins, which have more than two unrelated functions, are considered to be the key biological molecules in the cell to operate cells with limited genes. In this study we investigated the molecular basis of moonlighting proteins and found that single amino acid in a moonlighting protein, enolase, can operate previously unknown function. The result possibly suggests that one moonlighting function of protein is participated by the specific region of protein.
