Motivated by the presence of different orders in multilayered high-temperature superconductors, we examine a model consisting of nonequivalent layers coupled by interlayer hopping by means of mean-field approximation. As an example, we consider a two-chain system with antiferromagnetic (AF) order and with superconducting (SC) order. We find that induced orders decrease with increasing the magnitude of original orders and that the relationship does not depend on the type of correlations in the induced layer. Implications to the multilayered system are discussed. (C) 2009 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
