We study the low-energy effective action of N = 2 supersymmetric gauge theories in the Coulomb branch. Using microscopic instanton calculus, we compute the one-instanton contribution to the prepotential for N = 2 supersymmetric SU(N,) Yang-Mills theory. We show that the microscopic result agrees with the exact solution.
