Natural mutant hamsters are useful for alayzing human diseases. We have been maintaing several strains of hamster exhibiting cardiomyopathy, hypertension, albino and so on. By identifying causative genes for these hamsters, we are elucidating molecular pathogenesis of corresponding human diseases to design their new pharmaceutical agents.
