Neutron optics has a potential to remarkably improve the performance of neutron scattering instruments. A superconducting sextupole magnet was constructed and characterized. The application of the magnetic optics to the small-angle neutron scattering with the focusing geometry is discussed. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
