TAKAO KAKIZAKI, Ph.D., JSME Fellow,Mechanical Engineering Department,College of Engineering, Nihon University,kakizaki.takao@nihon-u.ac.jp,kakizaki@alum.mit.edu, ,, Professor Kakizaki joined the College of Engineering, Nihon University, in 2010. His research programs have focused on the visualization, modeling, control and design of sustainable mechanical systems as well as using his education in the area of dynamics and control of renewable energy driven mechanical systems and facilities. He is also one of the leaders of the Strategic Research Foundation Grant-aided Project and the Fukushima Regional Innovation Program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology. Research and innovative developments of energy self-sufficient and symbiotic design are the primary topics in both projects. He also gave the keynote speech titled “Our Challenge for Sustainable Fukushima through its Revival and Development” at Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 20, 2012., Before joining Nihon University, Professor Kakizaki worked for the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT) company after earning his MS degree from Tohoku University (http://www.ifs.tohoku.ac.jp/eng/index.html). NTT is one of the largest telecommunication companies in the world (http://www.ntt.co.jp/about_e/index.html). He has been involved in many R&D projects and has supervised many service and business projects including high-performance disk storage systems for information processing systems, sensor-enhanced robotic systems for the manufacturing industry with Honda Motor Company, wearable-computer application systems for telecommunication field work, remote factory maintenance and management services using the internet, video communication services utilizing an optical-fiber based broad-band network, service development for NGN (Next Generation Network) with Panasonic, Hitachi and NEC, and Home ICT Services for QoL with Tokyo Gas Company., Professor Kakizaki is a fellow of the JSME (Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers) and has been a visiting researcher at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (http://robots.mit.edu/people/index.html).
